October Update

Welcome to your October Update for thThe 2025 EGU General Assembly, to be held 27 April–2 May 2025, both on-site in Vienna, Austria, and virtually. To keep you up to date, we will be sending you important EGU25 information ’EGU25 Updates’ at least once per month – at the beginning of the month. You will still receive direct emails when tasks have a specific deadline, so make sure you check your spam folders and settings so that you don’t miss anything!

More information about the planned format and additional features of the EGU25 General Assembly will be available soon, but for now let’s continue the EGU25 Monthly Updates with October!

So, what do you need to do in October?

For conveners

• The Programme Committee will meet to finalize the session programme in early October. You will be informed about your final convener assignment before the launch of the Call for Abstracts.
• The Call for Abstracts will open on 23 October 2024, so prepare to advertise your session! The abstract submission deadline is 15 January 2025, 13:00 CET.
• If you would like to have a solicited speaker in your session, make sure you check the conditions that apply before approaching them.
• Have a question about being a convener? Find all convener guidelines and rules on our website!

• The EGU25 Artists in Residence scheme is now open for applications until 25 October 2024. Find out more and apply!
• GeoCinema will once again be accepting submissions from 23 October 2024.
• Prepare your calendar with all the EGU25 important dates by checking our Deadlines and Milestones page.
• Have a question about being a session convener, running a Union Symposium (US) or Great Debate (GD), or holding a Short Course (SC)? Find the answers in the guidelines sections on our website! You can also find out about specific types of sessions including the Inter- and Transdisciplinary sessions (ITS) and the Education and Outreach sessions (EOS).

For authors

• The Call for Abstracts will open on 23 October 2024 . The abstract submission deadline is 15 January 2025, 13:00 CET. If you are looking for a head start the Provisional Programme is now online, though keep in mind that this list is not finalized until after the start of the Call for Abstracts.
